Happy Valentines Day

This was the first year the hubby and I were actually able to spend Valentines Day together but we didn't really do much. Since we figured this was a holiday based solely on making single people feel bad we decided to just jointly buy each other a 55" tv. We also decided that we'd rather have a nice tv over having to spend 2 hours waiting in line for a restaurant where their food quality won't be nearly as good as a day that wasn't a holiday.

  • Although we didn't plan for anything the hubby still brought me home my favorite flowers. It was super sweet of him to do that but now I feel like a jerk since I didn't have anything planned. And since he came home from work early I didn't even have food ready which made me feel even worse.
  • Since we were both pretty hungry we did end up going out to eat. We just went to a new Mexican restaurant and since we went at an odd time we didn't have to wait at all. Not to mention that this is also Kansas. Unfortunately our meal was disappointing to say the least. I got the the trio plate with a tamale, mini burrito and an enchilada (I got them all with chicken). The tamale was way to overly salted to the point that it was inedible and the enchilada wasn't cooked long enough so the tortilla's texture was a bit off. The only edible thing was the burrito but even that wasn't too great since the chicken tasted like it wasn't even seasoned when they cooked it. It was only the $1 margaritas that even made this place worth visiting.
  • Trust me when I say to never eat out on valentines day. After years of working in the food industry, I've learned to just come the weekend after. After the storm's died down, you'll get better quality food and happier servers who just finished spending their holiday tips are just glad that it wont be till Easter in April that they have to endure another mob of cranky starving customers again.
As a side-note to all the single people out there, don't lose hope. I remember hating valentines day and only having my best friend as my valentine. And I remember being so sad that I wouldn't even want to get out of bed that day. But things do change. With life you just have to take the good with the bad. Things may seem dark today but it can't be winter forever.

  1. HEY! Don't assume that all single people hate being single or are miserable on V-day because of it! :p
I am always single and I not only STILL love V-day but I love my single life.
I also make my family my Valentines. :D

    1. lol Alyssa and I used to do an anti V-day since the holiday pissed us off so much. And it was super sweet of him. I still feel like a jerk though since I planned to at lease make him a card but I totally forgot and never did.

  3. aaaaw, don't worry. Cook him extra special and tell that you are feeling awful about it. I'm sure he doesn't care and will be happy for that extra special meal REGARDLESS of the reason. :P
    *hugs*
